MEMS Development Engineer

  • On-site
    • Riyadh, Riyadh Province, Saudi Arabia
  • R&D

Job description

The MEMS Development Engineer will play a key role in the development of the MEMS chip — the core component of Si-Ware's MEMS-based products. This role spans the full development lifecycle, from design and modeling through fabrication support, wafer-level testing, and failure analysis.

Design & Development

  • Contribute to MEMS design and development activities, including system-level design and parameter/specification extraction

  • Perform MEMS modeling using analytical and numerical techniques, including FEM-based simulation as needed

  • Create and refine layouts using L-Edit and other layout tools

  • Contribute to MEMS tapeouts.

  • Develop platforms and tools for MEMS data processing and manipulation

Characterization, Testing & Failure Analysis

  • Perform wafer-level and die-level testing and characterization of fabricated MEMS devices.

  • Carry out electrical characterization using lab instrumentation such as impedance analyzers to extract key device parameters.

  • Use lab imaging and inspection tools, including optical microscopy and related metrology equipment, for physical and structural analysis of dies.

  • Support the setup and operation of bench characterization stations for evaluating MEMS performance.

  • Assist in failure analysis activities to help identify root causes of performance and yield issues.

  • Investigate MEMS performance issues and contribute to solutions that enhance and stabilize chip performance.

  • Provide up-to-date reporting on MEMS performance status.

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Serve as the technical interface with the MEMS foundry supplying the MEMS chips.

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams throughout the development process.

  • Communicate technical status and progress to project managers.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and support procurement and purchasing activities.

Job requirements

  • Citizenship: This role is open to Saudi Nationals in line with local employment regulations.

  • Education: BSc or MSc in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics Engineering or a strictly related engineering degree.

  • SCE Membership: Engineer membership in the Saudi Council of Engineers (Engineer Grade category) is mandatory for this role.

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of MEMS characterization, design, and fabrication technologies is preferred.

  • Programming proficiency in MATLAB/Octave, C, or Python is preferred.

  • Familiarity with Excel is preferred (experience with Macros is a plus).

  • Familiarity with scripting languages is preferred.

  • Ability to visualize and interpret data to guide engineering decisions is a plus.

  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment and the ability to build bench characterization setups for measuring MEMS component performance is a plus.

  • Familiarity with the L-Edit layout tool is a plus.

  • Experience with physical characterization tools (e.g., SEM, AFM) is a plus.

  • Familiarity with FEM simulation tools (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL) is a plus.

Soft Skills & Attributes

  • Self-starter with strong quantitative analysis and problem-solving skills.

  • Team-oriented with effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Creative and innovative mindset with a proactive, initiative-taking attitude.

  • Ability to communicate proactively across teams and perform under pressure.

  • Comfortable working in the dynamic, fast-paced environment of a growing high-tech product company.

  • Excellent documentation skills.

  • Very good command of English (written and spoken).
